About Supreme Merino 4 ply and 8 Ply hand knitting and weaving wool

Supreme Possum Merino’s blend of possum fur and merino wool gives a range of lightweight,
warm and hard wearing yarns suitable for either hand knitting or weaving.

We stock Supreme Possum Merino balls in 4 and 8 ply, each approximately 50 grams and in lengths of 210 meters, 120 metres in length respectively. An average adult sweater only take 10 balls. The yarn will not pill and it is one of the warmest known fibres around. Needle size 5mm (US6).

Recommended tension is 18 stitches per 10cm (4 inch) on 5mm (US6) needles. Wash the garment upon completion, as this will bring the possum fur to the outside. Gentle hand wash and lay flat to dry. Make allowance for a small amount of lengthways shrinkage after the first hand wash.
